Directions: Provided is a handout of topics for your final project and a rubric.  For each project there is a time limit, a math component, and possibility for creativity.  Projects will not be accepted after __________.  You will only be given one handout.  Do NOT lose it and/or ask for another.  You may print this one off the internet and turn in if you lose yours.

100 Pieces of Pi - You must show the work in a division problem to get one hundred places behind the decimal for pi.

50-Piece Math Indian / Pioneer - Create a life-sized Indian or Pioneer and make a 50-piece puzzle out of him.  Each puzzle must contain a math problem and answers for each problem must be on the back of each piece.  Any type of math can be used.  We may give the puzzle to the elementary school when we are done.

50-Piece United States Map - Create a poster-sized United States Map and make a 50-piece puzzle out of it, with each state being a different puzzle piece.  Each puzzle must contain a math problem and answers for each problem must be on the back of each piece.

Two-Day Trip to Mathtown.  Time for a vacation!  Make brochures, tickets, receipts, etc. from your two-day trip to Mathtown.  The brochure must include pictures with prices for rides and games.  The receipts must show correct addition of your expenses.

Mathematician Mobile. For the baby mathematician in your home.  Create a mobile of at least ten mathematicians with a picture and a short biography of each.

Math Rap/Song.  Write and perform an ORIGINAL math rap/song.  Written lyrics must be submitted with performance.

Math Poem.  Write an original one page (at least 10 lines) poem about math.  You must submit a copy to me at the time of recitation.

Math Story.  Write an original story about something to do with math.  It can be science fiction, fact, fantasy, romantic (clean), or comedy... anything within reason.  You must submit a copy to me at the time of recitation.

Math Art - Art can be made of any material, but the math component must be easily recognizable.  Creativity, thought and neatness will be strictly critiqued for your grade.  So lazy, messy work will not be acceptable.  Go crazy and show me how artistic and creative you can be!

Math Board Game - You've played board games, so now it's your turn to make a game for me.  Board games must include instructions, game board and all necessary pieces.  It must be simple enough for everyone to be able to play.  You may get a friend to help demonstrate the game, however only one person will receive credit for the project.

How much will I make? - You have entered the real world.  You have a job, a new car, a house note, and utilities.  How much money do you make?  How much do you spend on bills?  You will research a job you are interested in, find out how much money that job makes on average each month.  Find out how much a mortgage and utilities will cost in the city in which you will live.  Determine if you will earn enough to pay all your bills.  Turn in a poster board with pictures of your future home, car, and job (if possible).  Write a budget listing what the income is and detailing each expense.  Don't forget taxes and insurance!!
